Deviation Actions
When March turned around the corner, we challenged you, dearest deviants, to read a book and write a review over the course of the month. You have exactly one week and two days left before March and the March Reading Madness Challenge winds down to a close!
This event runs for the entire month of March.
A book review is a fancy term for a pretty simple idea: "Do I like the book and should other people read it?" This here blog for a past workshop talks about what a review is and offers some hints on how to write one.
However! Please don't let this second part of the challenge stress you out. While we'd really love to see the Review sub-gallery get more lovin', we will also accept reviews submitted as journal entries. Yes, it's that informal.
Make 'em fun, make 'em snappy, make them the kind of reviews you'd like to read yourself.
See all the recommendations and participants here (24 readers!!), in the March Reading Madness Gallery!
You guys are amazing! I can't wait to read your reviews.
Instructions for Readers:
- 1. Your challenge is to take one of the titles we've recommended, and to jot down your review of the book before the end of March. 2. Submit the review to Literature>Prose>Non-Fiction>Guides & Reviews. 3. Send a link in a note to CRLiterature. 4. Celebrate!
This event runs for the entire month of March.
Now that it's time to write, I'm not sure what to do...

Ten years, and a couple cute dogs
Earlier this week, I realized it's been over a decade that I've been a member of deviantART. Wow. Ten years this may, from poetry to photography to prose to more photography to digital art. It's pretty intense, but the biggest thing that hit me when I logged into this account after this long hiatus was the reminder of all the wonderful people I've met along the way.
If you'd like to keep in touch, and I hope you do, you should watch me over at ninebark (https://www.deviantart.com/ninebark). We will chat and note and comment and have an amazing time. And if that's not enough, let me bribe you with some pretty pictures:
Come say hello and tell me what you've been up to,
Brimming

This is kinda how I'm feeling now, but beats me if I know why.
Life is good. Cat is healthy (finally). Work is only kinda nibbling at my soul. Research is meandering. Writing is happening. Food is delicious.
Spring is coming.
Naiya approves.
Hello hello again!
First of all, I want to launch a humongous thank you in Halatia (https://www.deviantart.com/halatia)'s direction. Meg selected one of my poems for today's DD--I'm superflattered and superhappy. Maybe this will be the kick in the tooshie that will get me a little more active on dA again, and (maybe maybe) writing again. :dalove:
What have I been doing and where have I been?
I've been all sorts of crazy these last few months--and it doesn't look like it'll change anytime soon. I will be continuing full time in grad school, and then doing a part time job and a full time internship (now won't that be fun?) while keeping up with my baby book review site and working on an editi
Write a character into real life
I came across this jewel of a news story just a few minutes ago: Dr. Conan T. Barbarian loses tenure at Trinity College
His profile indicated he had been "ripped from his mother's womb on the corpse-strewn battlefields of his war-torn homeland, Cimmeria, and has been preparing for academic life ever since".
So, in the spirit of awesomeness, I challenge you to write a fictional character into real life! Did Sherlock Holmes sign up for Livejournal? Is Alice applying to join the police force? Has Luke Skywalker taken over a multinational corporation as CEO?
What would their website profile look like? Their wikipedia article? Their biography?

The fact that it's the last day of march tomorrow and I still haven't started means I'm not likely to complete this before April. Life has taken over a little unfortunately. I can compromise and write a review of one of the other books I had to read this month that meant I didn't have time to start these? Or I can wait and read one of them in April when I have a few weeks off college and write the review then. Or, I could do both.
